Teeth filling in Nyon
What is a dental filling?
A dental filling is a conservative treatment used to repair a tooth affected by decay, small fracture or wear. At Cabinet Dentaire de Nyon, Dr Piero Parisini and the clinical team remove the damaged part, clean the area and restore the tooth with a suitable material, often a tooth-coloured composite. The aim is to recover chewing function, tooth shape, comfort, aesthetic harmony, and protection against further bacterial penetration. Fillings are common, but they still require precise diagnosis and correct technique. If you suspect a cavity or sensitivity, schedule a visit for teeth filling in Nyon.
When do you need a tooth filling?
You may need a tooth filling when a cavity has damaged the enamel or dentin, when an old filling is leaking, or when a tooth has a small chip or worn area. Warning signs can include sensitivity, discomfort when biting, visible dark spots, food trapping or rough edges. Sometimes, however, early cavities cause no pain and are found during a check-up. The dentist evaluates decay depth, tooth vitality, bite contact, existing restorations, and risk of progression before choosing the treatment. Early care can avoid more invasive procedures. To check your tooth, book teeth filling in Nyon.
How is a dental filling done?
A dental filling begins with a clinical diagnosis and, when needed, an X-ray to understand the depth of the cavity. The area is numbed if necessary, then the decayed tissue is removed and the tooth is cleaned. The dentist places the filling material in layers, shapes it and checks the bite. The procedure may include local anaesthesia, decay removal, adhesive preparation, composite restoration, and final polishing. At the end, the patient receives advice on eating, sensitivity and hygiene. A precise filling helps restore function and protect the tooth. To plan treatment, request teeth filling in Nyon.

How long does a dental filling last?
The lifespan of a dental filling depends on its size, material, position in the mouth, bite forces and oral hygiene. A small filling in a well-maintained tooth may last many years, while larger restorations or teeth exposed to bruxism can require closer monitoring. The dentist checks margins, wear, staining, bite pressure, and secondary decay risk during regular visits. Fillings are durable, but they are not permanent in every situation. Good brushing, interdental cleaning and professional check-ups help extend their life. To maintain existing restorations or replace a damaged one, book a consultation for teeth filling in Nyon.
How long does it take for a filling to settle?
After a dental filling, the tooth may feel slightly different for a few days while you adapt to the restored shape. Mild sensitivity to cold, pressure or chewing can occur, especially if the cavity was deep. The bite should feel comfortable; if it feels high or uncomfortable, the dentist can adjust it. The healing period depends on cavity depth, tooth sensitivity, bite adjustment, material used, and previous inflammation. If pain increases or persists, it is important to contact the practice. Clear post-treatment instructions help patients recover calmly. For careful follow-up, ask about teeth filling in Nyon.

Does a dental filling hurt?
A dental filling is usually not painful when local anaesthesia is used appropriately. Some patients may feel vibration, pressure or temporary sensitivity, but the team works to make the experience as comfortable as possible. At Cabinet Dentaire de Nyon, care is based on gentle communication, pain control, clinical precision, patient reassurance, and clear explanations before treatment. Anxious patients can speak with the team about their fears, especially if past dental experiences were difficult. After the filling, mild sensitivity can occur but should gradually improve. To treat a cavity with support and clarity, book teeth filling in Nyon.
How much is a filling?
The cost of a filling depends on the size of the cavity, tooth position, material used and complexity of the procedure. As an indicative reference from the practice fee information, composite cavity treatment may range from 235 to 350 CHF, depending on the tooth situation. A personalised estimate is always recommended after diagnosis. The final price may depend on decay depth, number of surfaces, anaesthesia, radiographs, and restoration time. The team explains the treatment and cost before proceeding, so patients can decide with clear information. To receive an accurate estimate, book a visit for teeth filling in Nyon.

How to get rid of plaque
Plaque is a sticky bacterial film that forms on teeth every day and can contribute to cavities and gum inflammation. It can be reduced with correct brushing, interdental cleaning and regular professional hygiene. Once plaque hardens into tartar, it cannot be removed at home and requires professional cleaning. Good plaque control includes twice-daily brushing, interdental brushes, dental floss, fluoride toothpaste, and professional hygiene appointments. The team can show where plaque accumulates and how to improve daily habits. Reducing plaque helps protect fillings and natural teeth. To improve prevention, book a consultation for teeth filling in Nyon.
How to improve oral hygiene
Improving oral hygiene means building daily habits that are simple, consistent and adapted to your mouth. Brush at least twice a day, clean between teeth, reduce frequent sugar intake and attend regular hygiene appointments. At Cabinet Dentaire de Nyon, Dr Piero Parisini and the team help patients understand brushing technique, interdental cleaning, diet habits, fluoride use, and preventive visits. Better hygiene can reduce the risk of new cavities around fillings and preserve tooth structure longer. The hygienist may also recommend Air-Flow or GBT protocols when appropriate.
